B A R E /// A BOUDOIR EXPERIENCE

like, share, subscribe…. most importantly experience

winds of change

i’ve pondered a million times over what way to go with my business. to blog or not to blog.  to have a main site or no main site.

do i continue to photograph babies, seniors, toddlers, ect, weddings, editorial, models— circus acts?…… does that make me happy?  does that continue to push my creativity?

after some deep soul searching i have decided on only 4 areas that i will devote my talents to.  in a way i can still emcompass all the elements that drew me to photography as an art… really become at peace again with my craft and take it to new heights.

with no further delay….. i present to you:

Nature Calls– Hermann Park Photo Walk in Houston, Tx

Some days you wake up and ask yourself “WTF was I thinking?”

Wednesday was one of those days… I decided that it would be a good idea to wake at 5:30 am, Shampoo and style my hair then go on a photo walk with a Photog buddy of mine…. Idiot move– especially since it’s like 199 degrees outside at any given time of the day.  Mother Nature must be pissed this summer  ;o)

So as cranky as I was– off the Hermann Park in Houston I went…. At 7 am in the morning.

Sweltering doesn’t even begin to explain the heat.  I don’t sweat– except that morning I REALLY did.  Mr. Lacy of Arganious Lacy Photography and I shot the morning away.  Both of us focused on wildly different scenery.  It’s funny to watch another person photograph something beside you.

I look for everything pretty– he was looking for the grunge.  Sky’s and clouds– broken Wine bottles and such.  Hilarity issued as I watch him photograph a Hawk attacking a squirrel.  I had ZERO interest in the 3 of them, lol.

Here’s my take on the photo walk.  I encouraged Mr. Lacy to blog his Walk…we will see if he posts anything!!

Until later…

Peek-A-Boo:

More on the blog very soon!

Mommy + Me– {still motion}

you knew it was coming…..

Just in time for Easter– Mommy and Me photography {Houston, Tx}

well, we did it again.  except this time we brought the boys!  Shaneka and her son J wanted to take some family portraits together in time for Easter.  yes, its true we had to bribe J with a new Tonka truck and a shiny new bow tie– and even then he was hard-pressed to smile for his photo opp!

donning a pink Ralph Lauren checkered classic button down and casual cargo khaki’s with the worlds brightest white bow tie and mommy in a coordinating pink and chocolate sundress with floral print, we took on the wee hours of the morning to make the shoot happen!

more and more of my shoots are styled by me– giving my clients a helping hand when they are stumped by the idea of creating a photo-ready outfit.  that’s where my expertise comes in…. i’ve done this a few thousand times– i was a wedding designer for 5 years– styled photo shoots for print and a host of other things besides being a makeup artist too!

enough with the chit-chat! here’s the goods!  comment, like and share this post with your friends!

Mommy and Me Session {The Tea Party Edition}

this sunday i got to do something fun– girly and just plain ole cute!  a tea party with a mother, daughter, and a few stuffed friends!

you never really know how kids are going to react to having their photo’s taken.  Belly, as we like to call her, told me a secret while we were shooting.  she said, “you know, i usually don’t like to have my picture taken cause the thing goes flash and poof, your thing doesn’t flash’ it only goes click!– so i like it.”…. and there it is folks.  if you “keep your thing from going flash and poof”  the kiddos will like you and like having their picture taken…. sooooo simple!

Joanna was super excited about having the opportunity to take photos with her daughter– the chance to capture a moment in time when she’s innocent, pure, full of life, and playfulness.  it’s a joy what i do; to be able to give a mother her hearts desire.  to create a moment that the two of them can look back on years from now and reminisce how much fun they had.

as i look at the photos and see Joanna’s reaction to them warms my heart.  i wish i had photo’s like these from my childhood.  i wish i had a tea party with my mother at any age.  i’m sure at some point i did but there was no one there to capture the laughs, the hugs, the snuggles, and wonderment of the moment.  as we get older we become more sentimental– at least i do…. and i miss my mother deeply….  so much i’d have a tea party with her in my 20’s lol!

take a look at the shoot below and comment.  mother daughter love is really in effect today on the blog.   hope this inspires more mothers to take the time to make memories with their children.

until later,
